Vouchers Information

Here you will find information about our Refund Vouchers and Gift Vouchers, and how to use them to purchase flights.

Refund Vouchers

Refund vouchers are available in certain situations as an option to keep the full value of your flight for future use within 5 years. The value of the voucher will include the fare, taxes, charges and any seats or bags originally purchased. It will not apply for any third-party payments such as car hire.

Who can apply for a refund voucher?

  • Customers who have been notified by Aer Lingus that they are entitled to apply for a refund voucher arising from a flight cancellation or significant change to their itinerary.
  • Customers who have booked a fare with additional flexibility included and decide not to travel. The refund voucher must be requested at least two hours before your scheduled departure date in this case. Applicable fare types are:are:
    • Flights within Europe = Advantage or AerSpace fares
    • Transatlantic flights = Smart, Flex, Business or Business Flex fares

Who is not eligible for a refund voucher?

  • If your booking was made via a third party (such as a travel agent, online agency or another airline), please contact the agent directly to discuss your options.
  • AerClub Reward Flight bookings are not eligible for a voucher refund.
  • Aer Credit Card, Chase Companion and AerClub tier benefits bookings are not eligible for a voucher refund.
  • If you booked a Saver or Plus Fare after the 01 February 2023. If you booked before this date you can change for free up to 7 days before departure. A fare difference may apply.
  • Customers who purchased a fare requiring roundtrip travel and wish to cancel one leg of their trip.
  • If your booking was made through our Groups department, please contact them to discuss options.

Step 1
Request a Refund Voucher

Ensure that your flight is eligible for a refund voucher. Then simply go to our Refund Voucher Request form and fill out the required contact information and flight details.

Your request is reviewed

Once you submit your voucher request, we will send you an email to acknowledge receipt of this. Your request is then reviewed and if eligible, the voucher will be issued.

Approved for travel

Step 3
Voucher and PIN issued

The lead passenger on the booking receives the refund voucher by email, followed by a PIN email. Vouchers are issued in the same currency as the original booking.

Gift Vouchers

Personalised gift vouchers can be purchased in Euro, U.S. Dollars or Pounds Sterling in denominations from 25 to 500. They can be redeemed on aerlingus.com and our App against bookings made in the same currency. Gift vouchers are valid for 5 years.

How it works

Step 1
Go to vouchers.aerlingus.com

Select your voucher currency, amount and theme. Ensure that the currency is valid for where your recipient will fly from. For example, EUR for flights departing from Dublin.

Enter recipient and sender details

Fill in the recipient's name (matching their passport) and email address, as well as your details as sender for your receipt. Complete the purchase with your payment details.

Approved for travel

Voucher and PIN emails issued

The voucher, along with your personalised message, is sent immediately to the recipient's email address, followed by a PIN email. Or you can specify a delayed date for delivery of up to three months.

 

Some common queries on purchasing gift vouchers

Yes. To redeem the voucher, the name on the voucher and the name of the passenger travelling must match with their passport. However, gift vouchers are transferable and this can be done via the Change Name function in Manage my Voucher First name, surname, e-mail address and delivery date can be changed; all other items remain as per the original voucher.

While purchasing the gift voucher you can choose a specific delivery date (YYYY-MM-DD) up to three months from the purchase date. A confirmation email and receipt will be sent to you immediately after purchase, and the recipient will receive both their personalised gift voucher email and separate PIN email on the date chosen for delivery.

It's instant! Our gift vouchers are issued immediately after they are purchased, unless you specify a different delivery date.

Vouchers purchased before 17th September 2020 were issued from vouchers@aerlingus.com, vouchers purchased on or after 17th September 2020 are issued from vouchers@vouchers.aerlingus.com. If you have an email filter, please allow your mailbox to receive emails from these addresses. If you or your recipient can't find the emails, please contact us.

No, it's not possible to receive Avios by purchasing vouchers.

Using Vouchers

You can use your voucher to pay in full or in part for any Aer Lingus or Emerald operated flight. Bag fees, advance seat selection fees and lounge access fees can also be paid for with vouchers. Simply search for a suitable flight on aerlingus.com or our App and input your voucher code and PIN on the Review & Purchase page.

How it works

Step 1
Start booking your flight

Ensure you have your voucher number and PIN ready. These were sent in two separate emails from vouchers@vouchers.aerlingus.com. Book your flight as normal up until the Review & Purchase page.

Upload your documents

Step 2
Enter voucher number and PIN

On the Review & Purchase page, enter your voucher number and PIN under the 'Pay with voucher' section, and click Apply. If the total amount is more than your voucher, you can pay the difference with a card.

Approved for travel

Step 3
Complete your booking

A valid voucher will be accepted as payment for your flight. Any credit remaining on the voucher can be used towards future bookings. You'll receive your confirmation email on completion of the booking.

Some common queries on using vouchers

Vouchers can only be redeemed against the cost of Aer Lingus or Emerald Airlines flights booked on aerlingus.com or on our App. Vouchers can't be redeemed through phone, chat, or email support channels, at airport ticket counters or through travel agents.

Vouchers can't be used for:

  • Bookings that involve flights operated by a partner airline or any airline other than Aer Lingus or Emerald Airlines
  • Group bookings
  • Price Lock and Deposit bookings
  • AerClub Travel Reward Tickets
  • Change fees, additional fares for reissued or partially used tickets.
  • Travel insurance
  • Car hire
  • Hotels
  • Inflight purchases

No, but multiple gift vouchers can be combined in the Manage My Voucher facility. This can then be used to complete a single booking.

Any difference in price may be paid with a credit or debit card. If there's any credit remaining after using your voucher, it can be used towards future flight purchases until the credit balance reaches zero.

Yes. You can collect Avios on tickets purchased with vouchers for valid Aer Lingus scheduled flights. See our AerClub section for more details on collecting Avios and Tier Credits.

You can request a new PIN for your voucher using the Manage My Voucher facility.
