Changing your Booking

Plans change all the time, so if you need to change your flight booking, we've made it as easy as possible to sort it quickly and simply online.

Itinerary Change

Bookings made with Aer Lingus

If your booking was made on aerlingus.com, you can change the travel dates, times, destination or upgrade your fare type via our Manage Trip facility. However if your booking includes partner airline connections, or was made with our Reservations Team, please contact us in order to make the required changes.

Please be aware that if you also purchased travel extras directly from Aer Lingus these are not automatically transferred to your new booking and must be rebooked.

  • Changes can be made up to two hours before the scheduled departure time, after which all money associated with the flight (with the exception of Government tax) is forfeited.
  • Changes may be subject to a change fee plus fare difference depending on the fare type purchased.
  • Note that there is no refund/travel credit of the difference in fare should the new fare be of lower value than that of the original fare, or if a fare of lower value becomes available subsequent to purchase.
  • Cancellation or failure to use individual flight segments on a ticket constitutes a change and fees and fare difference may apply depending on the fare purchased.
  • Changes are permitted from the same country of origin only and all travel must be completed within one year of the original date of purchase.
  • In the event of a voluntary itinerary change the 'Upgrade Yourself' product is non-transferable and non-refundable.

Bookings made through a third party

If your booking was made through a third party (such as a travel agent, online agency or another airline), and you need to change or cancel your booking please contact the original sales agent directly.

Seats

Customers may select seats in advance while booking online or up to 48 hours before departure via our Manage Trip facility (24 hours for flights to/from North America).

After the initial seat selection, subsequent seat changes are not possible until the flight is open for check in.

If Aer Lingus changes your flight, we will do everything we can to make sure you and your companions will have the seats you originally selected, or equivalent alternatives of the same type. If you voluntarily change your flight, and the seat type which you originally paid is not available, the seat fee is non-refundable.

Name Change

If you wish to change a name on your booking, please contact us and our staff will be happy to help you. If you made your booking through a third party, please contact them directly.

Name changes are permitted for a fee only on flights operated by Aer Lingus and Aer Lingus Regional (operated by Emerald Airlines). Names may be changed up to 2 hours prior to commencement of journey and the change must apply for all flights in the itinerary.

If the name in your booking does not match how it appears on your passport, you can request a correction, please contact us. Please note that the first and last names must match your valid form of ID, but the absence or presence of middle names on your booking does not require correction.

Changes by fare type: Flights within Europe

Saver or Plus Fares

  • Changes can be made on aerlingus.com for a fee per customer, per flight, plus any difference in cost between the original price paid and the price available at the time the change is being made.
  • All changes, including upgrading your fare type, are subject to a change fee and any applicable fare difference.

Advantage or AerSpace Fares

  • No itinerary change fee will apply.
  • The missed departure fee is waived for changes at the check-in desk (on the day of departure only).
  • All changes including upgrading your fare type are subject to any applicable fare difference.

Changes by fare type: Transatlantic flights

Saver fares

  • Changes can be made on aerlingus.com for a fee which applies per customer, per flight, in addition to any difference in cost between the original price paid and the price available at the time the change is being made.
  • All changes, including upgrading your fare type, are subject to a change fee and any applicable fare difference.

Smart Fares

  • No itinerary change fee will apply, however you may have to pay a fare difference.

Flex Fares

  • No itinerary change fee will apply.
  • The missed departure fee is waived for changes at the check-in desk (on the day of departure only).

Business and Business Flex Fares

  • Date, time and route changes are allowed subject to availability plus any difference in cost between the original price paid and price available at the time the change is being made.
