Changing your Booking

We understand that plans can change. So, whether it's a change of plan or just have a change of heart, here's how to update your Aer Lingus flight online or when to contact us for support.

What flights can you change?

You can make changes online at Manage Trip if your booking meets all the following criteria:

  • Your flights are operated by Aer Lingus or Aer Lingus Regional
  • If your flight is a
    • Transatlantic flight operated daily
    • Flight within Europe, including Aer Lingus Regional
    • Booked directly on aerlingus.com or through the Aer Lingus app

You can change:

  • Flight date and/or time
  • Destination within the same flight area e.g. within Europe to within Europe or from Transatlantic to Transatlantic.

You cannot change:

  • Origin airport
  • Switch between flights within Europe and Transatlantic flights
  • Cabin class changes: Business upgrades are available separately via our upgrade options in Manage Trip (when available).

Important timelines

  • Flight changes can be made up to 2 hours before your scheduled departure time.
  • All travel must be completed within one year of the original booking date.
  • You can change your flight multiple times. Each change will require payment of any fare difference and applicable fees.

Important exceptions:

  • Bookings involving other airlines or group bookings cannot be changed online. However, our contact centre will be able to help you.
  • Bookings made on aerlingus.com, but subsequently changed with our Reservations Team may not be manageable on aerlingus.com.

Understanding fees

When you change your flight, fees may include:

Fare difference: If the new flight is more expensive, you pay the difference. If it's cheaper, no refund or credit is given.

Change fee: A fee depending on your original flight type e.g. within Europe or Transatlantic (consistent across currencies).

Taxes: Are not recalculated or refunded during flight changes.

How your fare type affects fees:

  • Saver and Plus fares generally require fees for adults and children; infants often have exemptions.
  • Advantage, Flex, and Business fares may have reduced or waived fees depending on your itinerary.

For Transatlantic flights, infant and child fare differences have specific rules, which will be shown during your change process.

For full details, please visit our Flight Change Fees page.

What happens to your extras?

  • Baggage allowances transfer automatically to your new flight.
  • Other extras such as seat selection, priority boarding, lounge access and third-party extras (car hire, hotels etc) do not transfer and must be rebooked separately.
  • After your flight change is confirmed, you'll receive links to re-select your seats and other extras.

Changing your flight after check-in

If you've already checked in:

  • Changing your flight online is still possible
  • Passengers who have checked in will be offloaded from the original flight during the change process
  • You may need to check in again for your new flight.

When to contact us

Please reach out to our contact centre if you:

  • Have a group booking
  • Have an itinerary that includes other airlines
  • Need to change cabin class or upgrade (beyond the online upgrade option)

Name changes

Name changes cannot be done online. However, you can contact us or your original booking agent for help to do this. You can change the name on your booking for a fee, as long as it's a flight operated by Aer Lingus or Aer Lingus Regional and the change is made at least 2 hours before departure.
