Things to do and places to see in Rome

With a history spanning over 2,500 years Rome is a powerhouse of culture. From Roman Emperors to Incredible Artists, this city has some of the most amazing tourist attractions in the world. It's no wonder they call it the Eternal City.

  • The Colosseum
An absolute must see for any visitor is The Colosseum. This epic ancient stadium is one of the world's most iconic structures. In its prime it was capable of holding 80,000 people, all of whom came to watch the bloody violence of the gladiatorial games. AS Be prepared though, the Colosseum is easily accessible to the public and does draw very large crowds.
  • The Forum
The Forum was the centre of the ancient city and hosts a variety of significant attractions. The Temples of Jupiter, Titus and Vesta and Arch of Severus to name a few. The Forum is located right beside the Colosseum and it's worthwhile doing the two together.
  • Sistine Chapel
There are many people that say they get an indefinable "sense" when viewing Michelangelo's "Last Judgement" on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. The amount of detailed iconography that is part of The Vatican museum circuit is breathtaking and a must-see for any visit to Rome.
  • St. Peter's Square
Looking around St. Peters Square you may be surprised by the enormity of it. There are two huge colonnades that line either side with detailed statues of Saints and former Popes.
