Amsterdam is probably the most unique city in the world. Its liberal culture and history attract visitors from all over the world. Amsterdam is famous for its beautiful canals, diamond workshops, bicycles, world-class art in impressive museums, intriguing historic sights and famous coffee shops. There is so much to see and do in Amsterdam but the below are definitely a MUST.
Canal Cruise
Amsterdam has around 165 canals. Back in the day, these were fully exploited for the transport of cargo and getting around the city. It was, and to a certain point still is, popular to live on barges alongside the canals. This unique web of canals provides an opportunity for a great ride on a boat. You can sit back and admire the most iconic landmarks in the city. It takes around 45 minutes and goes around a circle stopping by the most important buildings.
Nightlife in Amsterdam
Unwind in a coffee shop before having a few drinks in a laid-back and olde-worlde local pub. Explore the neighbourhood of De Wallen and enjoy a locally brewed craft beer or party the night away in energetic clubs around Leidseplein and Rembrandtplein.
Windmills at Zaanse Schans
A few stops from Amsterdam you'll find the Zaanse Schans open-air Windmills museum. This spectacular place is home to a few remaining windmills in fully working condition up to this day. The majority of the windmills are open to the public between April and October. We recommend a visit as it is a fascinating experience to be inside these breathtaking windmills.
Amsterdam Schiphol Airport (AMS) is located approximately 22km from the city centre. There are many options for you to choose from. They are all fast and easy.
Taxi: Amsterdam Airport Taxi costs around €40 and it takes around 20 minutes to get to town.
