Things to do and places to see in Budapest

Inhabited since Roman times, and officially created in 1873 with the unification of three cities at the margin of the Danube river - Buda, Pest and Óbuda - Budapest is today a vibrant metropolis of approximately two million people.

Chain Bridge: With the Buda Castle in the background, the Hungarian capital's first bridge, now a monument, is a fascinating spectacle that has attracted many tourists to Budapest.

Andrássy Avenue: Andrássy Avenue is a 2,310-metre boulevard lined with buildings in varied architecture, constantly widening from the city center towards the City Park.

Széchenyi Bath: With 21 pools, Széchenyi Bath is one of the largest bathing complexes in Europe. Its adventure pool features a water chute, underwater jacuzzi, neck shower and bubble deck. In addition to traditional medicinal services, the entrance fee also includes wellness services such as saunas and underwater gymnastics.

How to get from the airport to the city centre?

The fastest connection from Budapest Airport to the city centre is by taxi. A journey takes around 25 minutes and can cost you up to 30 Euro. Buses and trains are also available.

Taxi: Fõtaxi transports passengers between the terminals and Budapest. At the taxi ranks in front of the stands, taxis are continuously waiting for passengers. A ride to the city centre should typically cost around 7200 HUF (26 EUR), depending on traffic conditions.

Bus: Public transport provides easy access to the city centre from Budapest Airport. The bus stops are located on the arrivals level, between the two terminals. Bus 100E runs every day of the week with a frequency of 15-20-30 minutes and goes to Deák Ferenc tér in the city centre. Bus line 200E operates day and night between Terminal 2 and Kõbánya-Kispest metro station.
