Dublin Airport

Dublin Airport is operated by the DAA (Dublin Airport Authority) and is located around 10km from the city centre. There are two terminals so whether you are looking for a last-minute gift or something good to eat, Dublin airport will be able to cater for your needs.

Transport from Dublin Airport

The best options to get from Dublin Airport to the city centre is by Car, Bus or Taxi. There is no train or metro service available, but the Airport is located just outside Dublin City and you should be there in about 20-30 mins depending on traffic.

By car/taxi: just take the M50 Southbound to the city centre, the motorway is well signposted with plenty of notice for exits.

By bus: There are regular bus and coach services at the front of the terminal building that can take you directly to the city centre. The Aircoach is a private operator that run 24/7. Tickets are available either on the bus or at a stand outside the terminal. The national bus operator (Dublin Bus) also runs several routes from the front of the terminal that can take you to your destination.

What to do in Dublin?

Take a tour: taking a tour is an awesome way to orientate yourself in Dublin while also finding out a bit more about what makes Dublin so special. Take one of Dublin's many off the beaten track tours like a ghost, street art or whiskey tasting tour.

Visit a museum or gallery: Dublin is home to a diverse range of exhibition spaces and gallery's from the vast Irish Museum of Modern Art to the tiny, Little Museum of Dublin, you will find the perfect place to soak up some culture.

Old Jameson Distillery: this old distillery is a fantastic way to learn (and taste) one of Irelands most famous products. The tour will run through the history of Jameson as well as how whiskey is made. There is also an excellent whiskey tasting at end.

Temple Bar: the home of some of Dublin's most famous pubs, Temple Bar is a great place to soak up some culture and party the night away. Some pubs date as far back as the 1300's and travellers can often be seen sipping on a pint of Guinness enjoying the streets unique atmosphere.

Merrion Square: a local favourite, Merrion Square is a lesser known city park. Home to the statue of Oscar Wilde, who was born in a house across the road, this beautiful park also hosts food markets and outdoor cinema during the summer months.

Christchurch Cathedral: At almost 1,000 years old, Christchurch Cathedral is sure to impress. The restored 12th century crypt hosts a rare 14th century copy of the magna carta and a mummified cat and rat mentioned in James Joyce's Finnigan's Wake. The interior of the cathedral is also a stunning place to take a minute away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
