Things to do and places to see in Venice

One of the most unique and beautiful cities in the world, Venice is mostly famous for its canals - it’s built upon a lagoon, after all! - but it is so much more than that - it is truly a piece of living history, dating from the 4th Century AC.

  • Basilica di San Marco
St Mark’s Basilica is a central piece of Venice and for sure one of its most stunning places. Located in the Square with the same, leading directly to the water, it is also called “The Golden church”, due to the treasures on its inside.
  • Rialto Bridge
Another iconic location in the city, it has been portrayed in many movies around the decades, it towers over the Grand Canal, another of Venice’s world-famous symbols. Enjoy the view and get down to the water to take a trip on the Gondolas.
  • The Carnevale
The carnival in Venice usually occurs in February, but depends on the Easter and Lent calendars, so remember to check in advance. It is an iconic event, with music all over and people all around in masks, costumes and tremendous excitement.
