Things to do and places to see in Prague

The capital city of Czech Republic, Prague is often considered as one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Its uniquely preserved historical centre, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1992, reflects eleven centuries of history full of fabulous monuments that charms visitors not only with its impressive and diverse architecture and breath‑taking views, but also its intimate, romantic atmosphere.

  • Prague Castle
Prague Castle has been an important symbol of the Czech state for more than a thousand years. It was founded in the 9th century and became the seat of Czech rulers and, later, presidents. The castle, one of the largest complexes in the world, is made up of historical palaces, offices, church and fortification buildings, gardens, and picturesque spots, such as the famous Golden Lane.
  • Charles Bridge
Prague’s oldest bridge was built to replace the Judith Bridge that had been badly damaged by floods in 1342. The Stone, or Prague, Bridge, called Charles Bridge since 1870, was begun in 1357 by Charles IV and was completed in 1402. The bridge is built of sandstone blocks, flanked at each end by fortified towers.
  • Tourist Tram - Line No. 42
Hop on one of the historic cars of Tourist Tram line 42 and enjoy an unforgettable experience! The landmarks of Prague as well as views of the Vltava River – and that’s just a fraction of what you’ll see on your tour of the city.

How to get from the airport to the city centre?

The international Václav Havel Prague Airport is located on the northwestern outskirts of Prague in the Ruzyně district. Connections to the city centre are provided by public transport buses, Airport Express buses or taxis.

Taxi: The companies FIX TAXI and Taxi Prahaprovide taxi services for getting to/from the airport. They operate nonstop at guaranteed prices, based on the number of kilometres travelled. Sales counters of taxi service providers are located at the Terminals 1 and 2 Arrival Halls. Boarding points are clearly marked in front of both Arrival Halls. Journey will take approximately 25 minutes and cost around 30 Euro.

Bus: Public transport bus lines operate from the airport to the city centre at regular few-minute intervals. Bus stops are located directly in front of terminals. To get to Prague city centre the fastest we recommend taking the 119 bus (Terminal 1/Terminal 2 – Veleslavín train station) and changing to metro Line A.

Airport Express: There is a coach service from Regiojet buses in the direction to Prague Florenc or Karlovy Vary stop directly under Terminal 1 (under the footbridge leading to Terminal 2). Travel time is around 40 minutes and provides a direct connection between Prague Airport and Prague Main Railway Station, stopping directly outside the main railway station building.
