Things to do and places to see in Switzerland

Switzerland is famous for alpine adventures, chocolate, cheese and fine watches. Visitors can enjoy outdoor pursuits, gorgeous cities and world-class shopping. Discover the best of this small European nation when you book your Aer Lingus flight to Switzerland.

Attractions in Geneva: Stroll through the steep and narrow streets of Geneva's Old Town and admire St. Pierre Cathedral, the City Hall and Rousseau's birthplace. Experience the unusual architecture of Quartier des Grottes, visit the Palais des Nations, relax in the Jardin Anglais, and enjoy the city's varied museums. Before you go, spend some time on idyllic Lake Geneva and see the Jet d'Eau light up at night.

Sightseeing in Zurich: Feast your eyes on the Gothic gem of Fraumünster and the Romanesque jewel of Grossmünster, saunter along the Lake Promenade, admire art in Kunsthaus and unwind in the charming Chinese Garden. Local museums include the large Swiss National Museum and the unusual Beyer Clock and Watch Museum. Langstrasse and Europaallee are great places to pick up locally-produced goods, and Niederdorf is a trendy and modern area to visit.

Swiss Alps: Gaze upon the iconic Matterhorn, one of the most striking symbols of the Alps, and enjoy diverse outdoor activities. In the summer months, you can go hiking, mountain biking, and swimming in stunning alpine lakes, while the winter months provide excellent opportunities for snow sports.

Do I need a Visa to visit the Switzerland?

If you're a U.S. citizen, a valid passport is required for travel to all E.U. member states. A visa, however, is not required for either tourist or business stays.

You'll also need to comply with all government travel requirements. Please view specific documentation requirements on the U.S. Department of State's website. U.S. citizens don't require transit visas to connect through Ireland into Europe.

For citizens of all other countries travelling from the U.S., requirements vary. It's your own personal responsibility to ensure you're in compliance with all relevant requirements, and you're advised to check with the Irish consulate for the correct information.
