Dreaming of a winter escape? We’ve just made it easier.

Summer might be in full swing, but it’s time to pencil in something magical for the colder months. Whether it’s festive markets, snow-covered slopes or just a complete change of scene, our four newly announced routes offer fresh winter adventures for travellers flying from Dublin and Cork.

Starting 23 October, you can fly direct from Cork to the fairytale streets of Prague. Flights to snow-dusted Geneva take off from Cork on 20 December, while a brand-new route from Dublin to Turin begins on 21 December, bringing the epic Italian Alps within easy reach. And for something truly out of the ordinary, new direct flights from Dublin to Tromsø offer the chance to chase the Northern Lights in Arctic Norway. Our new routes make it simpler than ever to plan a seasonal getaway… whether you’re a skier, a city explorer, or someone who just loves cosy cafés, epic scenery and winter vibes.

Tromsø: an Arctic adventure from Dublin

For those in the mood for something truly incredible, our new route to Tromsø opens up the wonders of Arctic Norway. Located above the Arctic Circle, Tromsø is one of the best places in the world to see the Northern Lights. With direct flights from Dublin starting this winter, this remote, magical destination will be easily reached from Ireland.

To take in your surroundings, hop on board the Fjellheisen cable car to the summit of Mount Storsteinen for a panoramic view of the snowy landscape and a chance to witness the legendary aurora borealis. Visit the iconic Arctic Cathedral, explore the city’s cosy bars and cafés, or tuck into warming dishes like reindeer stew and fresh Arctic char.

Adventure-lovers can head to Tromsø Alpinpark, just 12km from the airport, which offers slopes for both intermediate and experienced skiers. If you fancy giving snowmobiling or husky sledding a try, Tromsø makes an excellent base.

Beyond its natural wonders, Tromsø has a vibrant, youthful atmosphere. With a thriving university, delicious food scene and buckets of culture, it offers more than just epic landscapes. Spend your evening soaking in an outdoor hot tub under the stars or catch a live music set in one of the city’s lively bars. It’s the kind of place that combines outdoor adventure with unexpected charm.

Regular direct flights from Dublin to Tromsø will operate during the winter season. Fares will start from just €49.99 each way.

Ready for a winter weekend in Prague?

Direct flights from Cork now mean it’s never been easier to swap Ireland’s South Atlantic breeze for the Gothic beauty of Prague. This is a city that thrives in winter: you’ll find castles shrouded in mist, medieval lanes dusted with snow and cosy candlelit pubs serving up strong beer and hearty comfort food.

Fly in on a Thursday and spend your first evening strolling through the Old Town, stopping at a traditional hospoda for a plate of dumplings and a glass of Pilsner. Then cross the Charles Bridge at twilight, when the lanterns flicker and the city looks like a film set.

On Saturday, rummage through some vintage bargains in Žižkov, explore the Museum of Alchemy, or climb the hill to Prague Castle for gorgeous views. The Christmas markets are unmissable, particularly the ones tucked into neighbourhood squares like Náměstí Míru. But even beyond the festive season, there’s so much romantic winter atmosphere to absorb.

Known as the “City of a Hundred Spires”, Prague is packed with architectural gems — from St. Vitus Cathedral to the famous Astronomical Clock. If you have some time, the trendy Vinohrady neighbourhood is packed with great independent cafés and wine bars, while the Vltava River offers romantic winter boat trips. With its moody architecture, rich history and quirky character, Prague is perfect for anyone into history, culture and a bit of magic.

Flights from Cork to Prague will operate twice a week on Thursdays and Sundays, from 23 October 2025 to 26 March 2026. Fares will start from just €49.99 each way.

Turin: your new favourite weekend escape

Often overshadowed by Milan or Rome, Turin (or Torino to locals) is a hidden gem of a city. Flying direct from Dublin opens the door to a rich, cultural, and deliciously indulgent destination; a short flight time makes it ideal for a memorable long weekend.

On arrival, check in to a chic boutique hotel near Piazza San Carlo. Then get straight into the city’s famous café culture — Turin is the birthplace of the bicerin, a layered coffee-and-chocolate drink that will warm you up on a crisp winter morning. Spend Saturday exploring the Egyptian Museum (the largest outside Cairo), discovering independent galleries, or taking a walking tour of the Residences of the Royal House of Savoy, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Winter in Turin is festive and elegant, with the city lit up by the famous Luci d’Artista installations, which turn streets and piazzas into a magical open-air light gallery. Meanwhile, the Christmas market in Borgo Dora offers traditional gifts, mulled wine and Alpine charm.

For those in need of some Alpine air, the Italian Alps are right on the doorstep. Resorts like Via Lattea (The Milky Way), Pila in the Aosta Valley, Bardonecchia and Sauze d’Oulx offer something for everyone, from family-friendly slopes to more ambitious Olympic-grade runs.

Back in the city, Turin offers a blend of old-school elegance and creative energy. Head to the Quadrilatero Romano for an aperitivo or book a truffle tasting in a cosy wine bar. Art lovers can take in the murals lining the Dora River, while the original Eataly in Lingotto makes for a fantastic food pilgrimage.

Flights from Dublin to Turin will operate once a week on Sundays, from 21 December 2025 to 29 March 2026. Fares will start from just €49.99 each way.

Geneva: now directly connected to Cork

If you haven’t yet considered Geneva for a winter break, it’s time to take a closer look. This elegant Swiss city combines Alpine air with urban style; now, thanks to direct flights from Cork, it’s a really easy weekend escape.

Geneva has a reputation as a business hub, but it’s also full of surprising experiences. The lakeside setting is gorgeous in winter, with views of Mont Blanc on a clear day. Wander the Old Town’s cobbled streets, pop into a lakeside café for a hot chocolate, or explore the city’s world-class museums, including the Patek Philippe Museum and the Red Cross Museum.

You’ll also find the iconic Jet d’Eau fountain rising from the lake, the floral beauty of the L’horloge Fleurie (Flower Clock), and the chance to climb St. Pierre Cathedral for sweeping views over the city: all excellent adventures for a crisp winter morning.

Saturday afternoons in Carouge, the city’s bohemian quarter, are not to be missed; the area is known for artisan shops, creative galleries and Sardinian-style architecture. Or take a tram up to the Salève for epic snowy views and a proper bit of fresh air. Food lovers can try raclette or fondue in a traditional chalet-style bistro or visit the city’s bustling farmer’s markets and bakeries.

Geneva is also a dream base for the Alps. Within 90 minutes you can reach ski resorts like Morzine, with its vibrant après-ski scene, or Chamonix-Mont-Blanc, famous for its legendary Vallée Blanche off-piste run. Even if you’re not into skiing, nearby spa towns and scenic train rides into the mountains offer a wonderful way to connect with nature.

Flights from Cork to Geneva will operate once a week on Saturdays, from 20 December 2025 to 28 March 2026. Fares will start from just €49.99 each way.
