Things to do and places to see in Verona

A medieval old town, famous for being the setting for the classic story of Romeo and Juliet, Verona offers great sights and a tremendous experience of ancient - and modern! - Italy.

  • Piazza delle Erbe
The Piazza delle Erbe contains the monuments that symbolise the different rulers of Verona: the most famous is the fountain, built using a Roman statue during Scaligeri rule and later known as the "Madonna Verona".
  • Anfiteatro Arena
The stylish Roman Amphitheatre that was built in the first half of the 1st century A.D., in the period which marked the end of Augustus's Empire and the beginning of Claudius’s. It is one of the largest amphitheatres in Italy, with an elliptical shape that produces perfect acoustics from any standpoint.
  • Casa di Giulietta
Juliet's house building dates back to the XIII century and it was a property of the Cappello family for a long time. The identification of the Cappellos with the Capulets gave birth to the idea that there stood the House of Juliet, Shakespeare’s tragic heroine.
