Checked Baggage

We understand that your baggage needs vary depending on where you’re going and how long you’re going for. When cabin baggage just isn’t enough, we’ve got plenty of options to choose from. Simply weigh them up, check in your bags and off you go.
Whatever your reason for travelling, it feels good to save on baggage charges!
If you add your bags online, you’ll save up to 50% on the price of airport baggage charges. So, it pays to book in advance! On top of giving you great value, we also give you great choice with four baggage options to choose from when you’re flying within Europe.

For those occasions when you want to take just the essentials, check in one small bag weighing up to 15kg / 34lb.

The firm favourite! Our most popular option allows you to check in one bag weighing up to a maximum of 20kg / 44lb.

When you require a bit more weight, our large option allows you to check in one bag weighing up to 25kg / 54lb.

Go XL! Our 40kg / 88lb option allows you to check in two bags with a combined total weight of 40kg / 88lb. Please remember that no individual piece can weigh more than 32kg / 70lb.

The maximum dimensions of any single bag are (length + width + height) = 158 cm (62").

We give you the flexibility to add a maximum of 3 pieces within your chosen weight allowance.

General Checked Baggage Rules

  • Baggage allowance is per guest, each way.
  • Baggage fees apply for all economy Saver fares. The fees per weight are calculated based on destination (near, mid and far) and booking channel (online or airport).
  • Plus and Advantage fare guests can enjoy the benefit of having one 20kg bag included in their fare. Baggage fees apply for additional weight or bags.
  • Pay online up to two hours before departure at a discount, or pay the full fee at the airport.
  • A maximum of three bags per guest can be booked online up to two hours before departure.
  • Buying an extra bag gives you the flexibility to spread your weight across more bags, but it doesn’t increase your overall weight. For example, if you buy 25kg and also an extra bag, you’ve a combined weight allowance of 25kg spread over two bags.
  • There’s a discounted extra bag fee available online. A standard extra bag fee is charged at the airport.
  • If you haven’t added checked baggage to your booking and arrive at the airport with baggage to check, you’ll be charged for the first 20kg of baggage allowance per guest, and then for every additional kilo after that at the per kilo rate.
  • If you’ve added checked baggage to your booking but arrive with more than your personal checked bag allowance, you’ll be charged for excess baggage. Excess baggage is charged €10 per kilo.
  • Pooling or sharing of baggage allowance is permitted with a travel partner within the same booking and when checking in together.
  • One fully collapsible buggy/stroller is allowed free of charge for an infant or child booking, plus one of the following items: car seat, booster seat or travel cot.
  • Sports equipment will be carried at the applicable sports equipment rate.
  • Baggage fees are non-refundable.
  • Please note: If you booked through a travel agent, please contact them directly in relation to your baggage allowance.
  • Essential items, such as personal medication, money, passports and other identification documents should be packed in your cabin baggage and not in checked baggage.
  • The airport bag drop closes 75 minutes before scheduled departure time for transatlantic flights and 45 minutes before departure for flights within Europe. However we recommend arriving earlier than this to avoid potential airport queues.
  • If you flight is scheduled to depart between 06:00 and 08:00 in the morning at either Dublin or Cork airport, to avoid queues you can use our 'Evening before' facility at Dublin and Cork Airports.
