But if you have the time or you\u2019re on a budget, it\u2019s a great option.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Express Bus Services<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dublinexpress.ie\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dublin Express<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.aircoach.ie\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Aircoach<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> are your ticket to a direct, comfortable run into town. You can expect Wi-Fi, plenty of luggage space and stops at key spots around the city like O\u2019Connell Street, Trinity College and Heuston Station.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They usually take about 25 minutes with one-way rides \u20ac10 and return trips \u20ac13. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You can buy them online in advance or from the driver.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you book online, Dublin Express tickets are a little more flexible. They can be used on any of their buses either 12 hours before or after your chosen time.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Meanwhile, you\u2019ve got to ring Aircoach to make changes to your booking. There\u2019s a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dublinairport.com\/to-from-the-airport\/by-taxi\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">well-managed taxi rank <\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">outside both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Depending on where you\u2019re headed and the time of day, a trip to the city centre costs between \u20ac25 and \u20ac45. The drive should take between 20 and 40 minutes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-48509 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.aerlingus.com\/hub\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Taxi-driving-into-T2-Wide-Angle-View-With-Cloud-1000px.jpg\" alt=\"Taxi driving into Dublin Airport Terminal 2 on a sunny day\" width=\"1000\" height=\"726\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.aerlingus.com\/hub\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Taxi-driving-into-T2-Wide-Angle-View-With-Cloud-1000px.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/www.aerlingus.com\/hub\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Taxi-driving-into-T2-Wide-Angle-View-With-Cloud-1000px-300x218.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.aerlingus.com\/hub\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Taxi-driving-into-T2-Wide-Angle-View-With-Cloud-1000px-768x558.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Take the Leap<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you&#8217;re planning on getting a lot of public transport on your trip, a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/about.leapcard.ie\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Leap Card<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> will be your not-so-secret weapon. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You can use it on Dublin Bus, the Luas (the tram) and the Dart (train).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You can also use it in many of Ireland\u2019s biggest cities and towns including <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/about.leapcard.ie\/cork\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cork<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/about.leapcard.ie\/galway\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Galway<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/about.leapcard.ie\/limerick\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Limerick<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, so ideal if you&#8217;re city hopping. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There are a couple of different routes you can take for this. You can get a regular Leap Card or a Visitor Leap Card. What\u2019s the difference?<\/span><\/p>\n\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t<div class=\"col-xl-4 offset-xl-2\">\n\t\t\t\t<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Regular Leap Cards<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Regular Leap Cards cost \u20ac5 and are available in over 2,000 outlets nationwide, including the Spar in Terminal 2. Once you have your card, you top it up in a shop, Dart station or Luas stop, or on <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/about.leapcard.ie\/leap-top-up-app\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">this app<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and spend as you go. Leap fares are roughly 30% less than the cash equivalent.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/about.leapcard.ie\/dublin\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dublin<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/about.leapcard.ie\/tfi-90-minute-fare\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">90-minute trip<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> across any combination of Dublin Bus, Luas or Dart is almost always capped at \u20ac2. Then there\u2019s a daily cap of \u20ac6. It doesn\u2019t expire, so if you\u2019re staying for a while or you\u2019re a frequent visitor to Ireland, getting one is a no-brainer.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you\u2019re not coming back for the foreseeable, you can also get a refund for the card. However, you\u2019ll have to register your card online and then apply for a refund to an Irish bank account. Not totally practical if you\u2019re coming from abroad! But there is another option\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<div class=\"col-xl-4\"><h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Visitor Leap Cards<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/about.leapcard.ie\/leap-visitor-card\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Visitor Leap Cards<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> operate a little differently. You opt for 24 hours (\u20ac8), 3 days (\u20ac18) or 7 days (\u20ac24) of travel and that ticket is pre-loaded onto your card. You can add additional travel periods onto your card, up to a maximum of five times. And then your card expires after 12 months.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There are a handful of places you can pick this up across Dublin, including the Spar in Terminal 2. You can also have it delivered before your trip as you\u2019ll need the physical card. Remember that you need exact change in coins to get on the bus.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But if you\u2019re using a Leap Card, just tag on and hop aboard. No need to tag off here, but if you want to blend in with the locals, thank your bus driver as you\u2019re getting off at the rear door.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<div class=\"col-xl-4\"><h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nip around on the Luas<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With a name meaning speed in Irish, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.luas.ie\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Luas<\/a> is one of the quickest ways to traverse the city centre. This tram system has two lines, Green and Red. The Green Line is great for heading south towards the leafy suburbs of Ranelagh or the shopping at Dundrum.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Meanwhile, the Red Line connects the two main train stations, Heuston and Connolly, as well as the central bus station Bus\u00e1ras. It\u2019s also perfect for big gigs as it goes to the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/3arena.ie\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">3Arena<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You can buy a single fare in the machines at every Luas stop or use your Leap to tag on at the platform before you board. There are <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dublinbikes.ie\/en\/mapping\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">stations all over the city centre<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Here for just a couple days? Get a day pass from just \u20ac3.50. After that, you pay by journey. The first 30 minutes of every trip is free and it\u2019ll cost \u20ac0.50 for a full hour of cycling joy.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You can rent it for up to 24 hours at an additional cost, but our tip for keeping your budget in check is to return your bike at the nearest station after every ride. They\u2019re not legally required to supply car seats and children don\u2019t have to use them in a taxi.
