flights, Nicola has seen what works for passengers \u2014 and what doesn\u2019t. Her number one piece of advice is simple: give yourself plenty of time. \u201cIf you start the day stressed, it\u2019s going to go down hill from there.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She also recommends planning your entertainment in advance. \u201cI always advise friends or family to get a good book or download a series on Netflix before travelling, and to purchase the Wi-Fi if needed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Regular flyers, she adds, tend to be among the friendliest. \u201cYou can always tell when passengers fly often because most of them are so friendly to the crew and can\u2019t speak highly enough of previous experiences. On a ten-hour flight, you need to be able to feel half normal when you land.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Organisation, she says, makes the whole airport experience easier. \u201cI always have my liquids separated in a clear bag before security so I can just lift it out. Downloading a good podcast or watching a movie helps to distract yourself, and we\u2019ll always try to chat and reassure you. If turbulence happens, we keep an eye on nervous flyers. It\u2019s great to see people travel even though they\u2019re nervous.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Families, too, get special attention. \u201cIf there are babies under two on a long-haul flight, always ask about the bassinet row. We can make up a cot for the baby to try and sleep, which gives everyone a break. Even on my craziest days in the sky, passengers will always tell us how great the crew are, and why they choose Aer Lingus again and again.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She has a soft spot for certain destinations, too. \u201cChicago is just the most gorgeous city, and no matter how many times I go I love it as much as the first time. I also have family there, so it\u2019s always special to catch up. LA is beautiful, especially where we stay. It\u2019s a lovely chilled-out trip to rest or go for a walk or a cycle.
