Making a Booking

- Plan

  • Search for flights
    • Enter the first 3 characters of the city name, airport name or country code, a list of cities you might be looking for are displayed.
    • If you cannot find an airport, this is because we do not fly there or you have entered invalid details. Alternatively you can use the drop-down list to view all serviced airports.
    • Remember, unless you fill in all fields correctly (from, to, dates, number of passengers and class) your booking cannot proceed.
    • If your travel dates are flexible, you can see a calendar display of available dates and fares by choosing the 'Flexible' option.
  • Promo code is a code that relates to a specific offer and it can be redeemed on the Aer lingus website.
  • Group bookings option is for bookings that consist of 7 or more adults.


- Select Dates

  • The cheapest fare for each day is displayed in the calendar.
  • We may not travel every day to your desired destination. The days we don't fly or flights are full, they are indicated in the calendar.
  • Fares may change depending on days of week you have selected.
  • The fares previously presented to you may no longer be applicable for the travel dates you have selected. In this instance, fares will be re-calculated and processed based on your new travel dates.


- Select Flights

  • You will be offered a variety of fare options where applicable. Please ensure that you read conditions of your fare(s) before proceeding.
  • To view flights/fares on alternate days click 'Previous Day', 'Next Day'.
  • Fares may change depending on days of week you have selected.
  • The fares previously presented to you may no longer be applicable for the travel dates you have selected. In this instance, fares will be re-calculated and processed based on your new travel dates.
  • If you click on the linked flight number (in green) in the flight information column, you can see the flight details.


- Price

  • This is where the specific details of your chosen journey are displayed.
  • The total price includes all relevant taxes and charges.
  • Fares may change depending on days of week you have selected.
  • Upgrade your fare: You will be given option(s) to upgrade your journey to a more flexible fare (where applicable) with an additional cost. Please refer to Fare Families for details.
  • If the flights you selected are eligible for Price Lock or Deposit, you will be given two payment options, a) pay in full now or b) hold fares.
  • Please read the terms and conditions before continuing. You must accept the terms and conditions by ticking the box at bottom of the page.
  • When you click 'Continue' on the Price page you may see a browser security message. This is simply informing you that you are entering a secure area of the site. Your browser can be configured to display this message or not, as you choose.


- Passenger Information

  • This is where you fill in all your personal details, please note:
  • Certain characters are not accepted, namely: comma (,), oblique (/), apostrophe ('), hyphen (-).
  • Use passengers' full names (not initials) as they appear on passports.
    • Wheelchair requests
    • You can request wheelchair assistance online.
    • Select a type of assistance you require from the drop-down list provided.
    • Passengers are required to provide a minimum of 48 hours notice of their intention to travel.
    • Special meal requests
    • Aer Lingus offers special meals for children and to meet passengers' specific dietary needs on our flights to/from the USA.
    • To request a special meal, please contact our Helpdesk +353 818 365011 (Europe), or 516 622 4222 (U.S.A.) and advise a flight attendant onboard that you have pre-ordered a special meal. Meals can be requested up to 24 hours prior to departure.
    • Email notification
    • Please ensure you key in your e-mail address correctly and that your account is active, as your confirmation e-mail will be sent to this address.
    • Any timing changes to your flight(s) will be sent to you via the email address that you provided in this booking.
  • SMS text confirmation
    • If you'd like to receive a SMS text confirmation, please enter your mobile/cell number and ensure that the number you entered is correct.
    • We will contact you by SMS on the number you provided in the booking in the event of any timing changes to your flight. Please ensure that the phone number entered is correct
    • SMS fee is non-refundable. If you enter a mobile number incorrectly, you may not receive a SMS text confirmation.
  • Vouchers
    • If you have an aerlingus.com voucher and wish to apply it toward the purchase of your booking, please enter the voucher number and PIN.
    • See Voucher information for more details.
  • Infants
    • Infant's date of birth, if applicable, must be provided in order to complete a booking.
    • Infants must be less than 2 years old on your outbound departure date otherwise they must be booked as a child (aged 2-11years).
  • Longhaul flights (USA) - The following details are required due to the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Secure Flight Program.
    • Gender
    • Date of birth
    • Redress Number if applicable


- Travel Essentials

  • Seat Selection: You can book seats online in advance of check-in for any Aer Lingus operated flights, prior to the day of departure. Click on the tab to view the seat map for each flight. For operational reasons, seat selection can be overwritten on the day of travel.
  • Checked Baggage: Select a number of checked bags that you wish to pre-book per passenger. Please see section on baggage information for details.
  • Sports Equipment: A maximum of 1 sports equipment item per passenger (excluding infants) is permitted. Please see section on baggage information for more details.
  • Travel insurance: If you wish to purchase travel insurance, we have great value travel insurance available from Allianz Global Assistance. Simply select 'Yes' to purchase the travel insurance. Please ensure that you read the Services, Terms and Conditions before proceeding.
  • Airport lounge access: If you wish to access the Airport Lounge during your travel, you can book Lounge Access in advance. Please see Lounge Access Information for details.
  • Airport car parking: Airport car parking may be booked in advance at exclusive rates for Aer Lingus customers. Please see Airport Car Parking Information for details.
  • Car rental: If you would like to book a car for your travel, you can do so by adding your preferred car to your booking.
  • Please note that you will be billed separately for your car and flight transactions. You will receive a car confirmation email in addition to your flight booking email.


- Purchase

  • Voucher payment:: See Voucher Information for details.
  • Ensure that all your details are correct on this page.
  • Please wait a few moments to allow this transaction to go through. Do not click on 'Purchase' more than once.


- Booking Confirmation

  • The confirmation page confirms all your details. We recommend that you print this page and keep it for your records. An email will be sent to you confirming your flight details and fare information to the email address you provided in the booking.
  • Select your seats: If you wish to pre-book your seats, click 'Select your seats' button. You will be presented seat maps for your flight(s) where applicable. Seats can be pre-booked for Aer Lingus flights only. For operational reasons, seat Selection can be overwritten on the day of travel.
  • Car hire: If you have booked a car with our partners, please contact them directly for any queries or updates to your car booking.
  • Travel Insurance: Full details of your insurance policy will be emailed to your email address from Allianz Global Assistance. If you do not receive it or have any queries regarding your policy, please contact Allianz Global Assistance Customer Service.



Trip Summary

  • Trip summary will show you all details of your booking.
  • Total price for all passengers will be displayed.
  • Trip summary is a shopping basket and which will be updated as you go through the booking process.


Price Lock

How to Price Lock your itinerary:

Step 1: Flights applicable for Price Lock are indicated with on Select Flights page.

Step 2: Select Price Lock as a payment option.
  • The total amount for your booking will be displayed along with the price lock fee, the total amount you pay now and the remaining balance due to confirm your booking.

Step 3: Provide passenger names and your contact details.
  • Please ensure passenger names in full are correct. It is not possible to change the passenger names after your fare has been locked.

Step 4: Price Lock Itinerary page shows the summary of your Price Lock booking.
  • Flight itinerary
  • Fare details
  • Price Lock information including the amount due now, expiry time/date and the balance due when confirming the booking.

Step 5: Price Lock Confirmation page shows you the expiry time/date before confirming the booking with full payment.
  • Please make sure that you keep a note of the expiry time/date.
  • If the full payment has not been made before this date, your booking will be cancelled and no refund will be given.

Deposit

How to pay Deposit:

Step 1: Flights applicable for Deposit are indicated with on Select Flights page.

Step 2: Select Deposit as a payment option.
  • On Price page you will be displayed the total amount for your booking, deposit amount you pay now, and the remaining balance due to confirm your booking.

Step 3: Provide passenger names and your contact details
  • Please make sure passenger names are correct. It is not possible to change the passenger names once the deposit has been paid.

Step 4: Deposit Itinerary page shows you the summary of your Deposit booking
  • Flight itinerary
  • Fare details
  • Deposit information including the amount due now, expiry time/date and the balance due when confirming the booking.

Step 5: Deposit Confirmation page shows you the expiry time/date before confirming the booking with full payment.
  • Please make sure that you keep a note of the expiry time/date.
  • If the full payment has not been made before this date, your booking will be cancelled and no refund will be given.

Baggage

  • Shorthaul flights (Ireland/UK/Europe): Checked bag fees apply for each checked bag per passenger excluding infants. A maximum of 3 bags can be booked online per passenger.
  • Longhaul flights (to/from USA): Passengers are permitted 1 bag weighing in total up to 23kgs (50lbs) free of charge. Checked bag fees apply for 2nd and subsequent checked bags. A maximum of 2 bags can be booked online per passenger.
  • Excess weight is charged per kilo per flight in excess of the allowance at the airport.
  • The specified allowance for cabin baggage is one single piece within the size dimensions of 55cm x 40cm x 24cm. Aer Lingus Regional (flight no's 3000 - 4000 operated by Aer Arann) size limits are 48cm x 33cm x 20cm. Your carry-on must fit inside the gauge units at the airport (including wheels and handles) with a weight limit of 10kgs (7kgs for Aer Lingus Regional).
  • A buggy/stroller is carried free of charge.
  • All medical equipment, e.g. dialysis machines and wheelchairs, is carried free of charge.
  • Passengers can travel with a maximum of 1 sports equipment item per passenger excluding infants.
  • The maximum weight allowable for carriage of sports equipment is 23kgs/50lbs.
  • If the weight exceeds this limit, passenger will be charged excess baggage fees in addition to the flat rate charge.

Special Meal Requests

Special meal requests - Aer Lingus offers special meals for children and to meet passengers' specific dietary needs on our flights to/from the USA. To request a special meal, please contact our Helpdesk +353 818 365011 (Europe), or 516 622 4222 (U.S.A.) and advise a flight attendant onboard that you have pre-ordered a special meal. Meals can be requested up to 24 hours prior to departure.

Airport Lounge Access

  • Lounge Access is included free of charge on a Flex fare or Business Class flight.
  • Gold Circle Club members can use the Airport Lounge free of charge.
  • You will be sent the Lounge Pass email and you must bring it with you to the airport, as you must submit it at the reception desk, along with your boarding card.


Airport Car Parking

  • Airport car parking may be booked in advance at exclusive rates for Aer Lingus customers.
  • You will be sent a PIN email and you must bring it with you to the car park, as you must enter the PIN to enter the car park.
  • The vehicle entering the car park must be the vehicle with the registration number provided at the same time as the booking of the car park.
  • Airport car parking fees are not refundable.


Vouchers

- Voucher Information

  • Vouchers are valid for the name shown on the vouchers as specified by the purchaser at the time of purchase.
  • Vouchers can only be redeemed at aerlingus.com for passengers travelling wholly on Aer Lingus flights.
  • Only one voucher may be used per transaction.
  • Vouchers are not refundable.
  • The voucher can only be used if the currency of your voucher is the same as the currency of your flight.
  • If you enter your PIN incorrectly too many times, for security reasons your voucher will be locked. To unlock the voucher, please contact Aer Lingus helpdesk.


- Voucher Payment

  • Vouchers are redeemable toward the purchase of the flight(s) and associated taxes, charges and fees that are collected as part of your flight booking.
  • Bag fees may be paid for with vouchers at the same time as the purchase of the flight(s).
  • Vouchers may not be used for the payment of Advance Seat Selection Fees, Travel Insurance, Airport Lounge Access, Airport Car Parking, Car Hire or hotels.
  • Vouchers are not refundable.
  • Admin fee will be charged if a credit card is used as a form of the payment as well as the voucher.
  • Debit cards may not be used if the voucher is used as a form of the payment.
  • If the price of your booking is greater than the value of the voucher, the difference may be paid with a credit card.
  • If there is any credit remaining on redemption of the voucher, it can be used towards future flight purchases until the credit balance reaches zero within the original validity period.



Promo code

  • Promo code is a code that relates to a specific offer and it can be redeemed on the Aer Lingus website.
  • Entering this code at the beginning of the booking process allows you to get a promotional discount subject to the terms and conditions relating to the offer.
  • A gift voucher is different from a promo code. To redeem a gift voucher, please enter the voucher number on Passenger Information page.


Group Bookings

  • Group Bookings consist of 7 or more adults.
  • We do not require all passenger names travelling in your group at the time of booking. You make the group booking under the name of one passenger.
  • You can add the remaining names through the 'Add Passenger names' link on the Booking Confirmation page immediately after making the booking or through the 'Manage Booking' section at a later stage.
  • You can make a group booking without passenger names at the time of booking. All passenger names are required 10 days prior to the departure date of your outbound flight.
  • After all passenger names have been confirmed and added to the booking, bags can be added to the booking through 'Manage Booking' section.
  • We accept most major payment cards for Groups Bookings, with the exception of ELV, limited to a single payment transaction per group booking.


Fare tips

aerlingus.com displays the lowest available fare for your selected travel dates at the time of booking. If you are not satisfied with the fare displayed, you may like to read the following points and adjust your schedule if appropriate.

- Avoid peak travel

As you would expect, the lowest fares sell quickly on peak time flights. Try and take flights at the quieter times such as mid-morning or early afternoon. Avoid travelling on Monday mornings, Friday evenings, Sunday afternoons, or Bank Holidays if you want the lowest fares.

-Consider alternative travel dates

If sale fares are not available on your selected travel dates and your travel dates are flexible, you can see a calendar display of available dates and fares by choosing the 'Flexible' option.

-Sign up as a Site Member

Sign up as a Site Member from the homepage for e-mail notification of last-minute travel discounts and other special low fare offers.
