Optional Service Fees

Below, please find listing of our optional service fees as well as information on what is included with the fare you have purchased.

Complimentary (No Charge) Services

Economy - Long haul (to/from USA)

Customers purchasing a Low Fare on long haul services are permitted one piece of carry-on baggage and one piece of checked baggage free of charge. Customers purchasing a Flex Fare on long haul services are permitted one piece of carry-on baggage and two pieces of checked baggage free of charge. Maximum dimensions and weight allowances apply, see the Baggage Information section for full details.

Customers travelling on long haul services may select seats in advance as you make your booking. Seats may be booked in advance free of charge except for Choice and Exit Row seats.

On our long haul flights, we provide customers with a delicious complimentary meal. Our long haul meals are produced locally and only the highest quality ingredients are used. We also provide complimentary soft drinks. Alcoholic beverages are available for €5 to €15 or US$ equivalent.

We also offer the option to purchase one of our three premium Sky Dine meals. Sky Dine meals may be ordered online up to 36 hours before travel.

Economy - Short haul (Ireland/UK/Europe)

Customers purchasing a Low Fare on short haul services are permitted one piece of carry-on baggage free of charge. Customers purchasing a Flex Fare on short haul services are permitted one piece of carry-on baggage and two pieces of checked baggage free of charge. Maximum dimensions and weight allowances apply, see the Baggage Information section for full details.

Customers travelling on short haul services may choose a seat in advance for a fee or may choose an available seat at time of check-in free of charge.

On all of our flights within Europe we are delighted to serve you a variety of hot and cold food and beverages at very reasonable prices. Full details are available under Items For Purchase.

Business - Long haul (to/from USA)

Customers purchasing a Business Fare on long-haul services are permitted one piece of carry-on baggage and three pieces of checked baggage free of charge. Maximum dimensions and weight allowances apply, see the Baggage Information section for full details.

Connecting Journeys (USA to/from UK/Europe)

For Aer Lingus journeys between North America and the UK or Continental Europe, the long-haul checked baggage allowance will apply for all flights within a single itinerary, unless there is a stopover of more than 14 days in Ireland, then each flight within the itinerary will have the relevant shorthaul or longhaul baggage policy applied to that part of the journey.

Change Fees - Name

• Low Fare/ Plus Fare
  • Name changes are permitted for €100/£80/$157 per person, and may be changed up to 2 hours prior to commencement of journey.
  • The name must be changed for all flights in the itinerary.
  • Name changes are not permitted for bookings with airlines other than Aer Lingus in the itinerary. This includes bookings containing United or JetBlue flights.
• Flex Fare
  • Name changes are permitted for €100/£80/$157 per person, and may be changed up to 2 hours prior to commencement of journey.
  • The name must be changed for all flights in the itinerary.
  • Name changes are not permitted for bookings with airlines other than Aer Lingus in the itinerary. This includes bookings containing United or JetBlue flights.
• Business / Business Flex

Payment

Payment is required at the time of making the change. If the passenger has a paper ticket payment is required at the ticket desk as the ticket will need to be updated.

Change Fees - Date/Itinerary/Route

• Low Fare / Plus Fare - Shorthaul flights (Between Ireland/UK/Europe)
  • Changes are allowed on aerlingus.com for €40/£35/$60 (or through our Call Center for €50/£40/$80) per person per flight, plus any difference in cost between the original price paid and price available at the time the change is being made. However, there will be no refund/travel credit of the difference in fare should the new fare be of lower value to that of the original fare, or if a fare of lower value becomes available subsequent to purchase.
  • Changes, subject to availability, can be made up to 2 hours prior to the flight scheduled departure time. Unflown tickets which were not changed are subject to the cancellation policy specific to the fare type booked.
  • Routing changes are permitted from the same country of origin only.
  • All travel must be completed by one year from original date of purchase.
• Low Fare - Longhaul flights (Between Ireland and USA)
  • Change fees of €100/£85/$150 per person per flight (in each direction) apply, plus any difference in cost between the original price paid and price available at the time the change is being made. However, there will be no refund/travel credit of the difference in fare should the new fare be of lower value to that of the original fare, or if a fare of lower value becomes available subsequent to purchase.
  • Changes, subject to availability, can be made up to 2 hours prior to the flight scheduled departure time. Unflown tickets which were not changed are subject to the cancellation policy specific to the fare type booked.
  • Routing changes are permitted from the same country of origin only.
  • All travel must be completed by one year from original date of purchase.
• Flex Fare
  • No Itinerary change fee will apply.
  • Changes, subject to availability, can be made up to 2 hours prior to the flight scheduled departure time. Unflown tickets which were not changed are subject to the cancellation policy specific to the fare type booked.
  • Routing changes are permitted from the same country of origin only.
  • The Missed Departure Fee is waived for changes at the airport (on the day of departure only).
  • All travel must be completed by one year from original date of purchase.
• Business
  • Date, time and route changes are allowed subject to availability plus any difference in cost between the original price paid and the price available at the time the change is being made. However, there will be no refund/travel credit of the difference in fare should the new fare be of lower value to that of the original fare, or if a fare of lower value becomes available subsequent to purchase.
  • Changes, subject to availability, can be made up to 2 hours prior to the flight scheduled departure time. Unflown tickets which were not changed are subject to the cancellation policy specific to the fare type booked.
  • Routing changes are permitted from the same country of origin only.
  • All travel must be completed by one year from original date of purchase.
• Business Flex
  • Date, time and route changes are allowed subject to availability.
  • Changes, subject to availability, can be made up to 2 hours prior to the flight scheduled departure time. Unflown tickets which were not changed are subject to the cancellation policy specific to the fare type booked.
  • Routing changes are permitted from the same country of origin only.
  • All travel must be completed by one year from original date of purchase.

Aer Lingus flights between the UK/Continental Europe and the USA which include a connecting flight in Ireland, will be subject to a combination of the change fees above where applicable, as these journeys contain both a short-haul and a long-haul flight.

Change Fees - Missed Departure Change (flights between Ireland and the UK/Europe only)

If a passenger arrives at the check-in desk after check-in has closed but before their flight has departed, they may change their flight at the airport to the next available Aer Lingus flight to the same destination, or another destination in the same country as the original booked flight for a fee of €75 or equivalent.

Checked Baggage Fees - Shorthaul

Shorthaul Baggage fees (Ireland/UK/Europe)

Important: Total checked baggage weight allowed per passenger is 20kgs (44lbs), regardless of the number of bag fees purchased. Additional excess fees will be charged for every kg over 20Kgs (44lbs).

• Pay online up to two hours before departure at a discount or pay the full fee at the airport. See the table below for details.
• Low Fare - Baggage fees apply for each checked bag as below.
• Plus Fare - Baggage fees apply for 2nd and subsequent checked bag as below.
• Flex Fare - Baggage fees apply for 3rd and subsequent checked bag as below.

Note: For low fares purchased through channels other than aerlingus.com, fees will apply only for 2nd and subsequent checked bags and excess weight as above. If you did not book online you will need to contact our Reservations Department in order to book your bags in advance. Excess weight cannot be purchased in advance through channels other than aerlingus.com.

Checked Baggage Fees - Longhaul

Longhaul Baggage fees (to/from USA)

• Economy Class - Low Fare - 2nd and subsequent bag weighing up to 23kgs (50lbs) will be charged.
• Economy Class - Flex Fare - 3rd and subsequent bag weighing up to 23kgs will be charged as below.
• Business Class - Business Fare / Business Flex Fare - 3 bags up to a total of 69kgs (150lbs) carried free of charge.

Connecting Itineraries

For Aer Lingus journeys between North America and the UK or Continental Europe, the long-haul checked baggage allowance will apply for all flights within a single itinerary or reservation, unless there is a stopover of more than 14 days in Ireland, then each flight within the itinerary will have the relevant shorthaul or longhaul baggage policy applied to that part of the journey. Relevant shorthaul or longhaul policies shall apply to itineraries booked as separate reservations.

Excess Baggage Fees

Shorthaul Flights (Ireland/UK/Europe)

• Excess weight fee is charged for any bag over 20 kgs.

Longhaul flights (USA)

• Excess weight fee is charged for any bag over 23 kgs (50lbs).

Fees for Sports Equipment

• Fees apply for carriage of sports equipment on shorthaul flights (Ireland/UK/Europe).  
• On longhaul flights (to/from USA) sports equipment counts as a piece of luggage. Maximum dimensions and weight allowances apply, and the applicable per-piece charge applies if carried in addition to the free allowance.

Foreign Transaction Fee

Some financial institutions may impose their own "Foreign Transaction Fee" to online purchases. This is not an Aer Lingus fee and we suggest you consult your individual credit card company for their policy.

Items For Purchase Inflight

Sky Dine

On flights between Ireland and the United States, we offer the option to purchase a choice of three Sky Dine Pre-Order premium three-course meals. Sky Dine meals are available to pre-purchase online for €17.50 or $20 up to 36 hours before travel.

Orlando

On our flights to and from Orlando in addition to our complimentary meal service we also carry a variety of fresh sandwiches including Chicken & Stuffing with Cheese & Spring Onion which may be purchased for €5 or $8. Travel packs are also available for purchase at €5 or $8.

Sky Deli Menu

On all of our flights within Europe, we are delighted to serve you a variety of hot and cold food and beverages at very reasonable prices. View a selection of what's available on-board.

Newspapers

All our flights have newspapers for sale onboard which range in price from €1.90 to €2.70. During the week we have the Irish Independent and on Sundays the Sunday Independent.
