  • What is the Gold Circle Club?

The Gold Circle Club is a club within our Gold Circle Frequent Flyer Programme. The Gold Circle Club consists of three tiers, Gold Circle, Gold Circle Prestige and Gold Circle Elite. Membership of this club is by invitation only and members must reach a certain criteria to gain entry. Membership is valid for one year.

  • How do I become a member of Gold Circle Club?

You apply to become a member of the Gold Circle Club online at Once your membership application has been accepted you will be issued with an Application Number, which you use to log your Aer Lingus flight activity. When you accumulate 2,400 Application Points in a continuous 12-month period you will become a qualified member of the Gold Circle Club. As a qualified member of the Gold Circle Club, your Application Points will be given full club status and can be used towards reward flights*.

  • Can children become members of Gold Circle Club?

Anyone over 12 years of age may apply for membership.

  • How do I change my contact details?

You can change your contact details online. Login with your membership number or email address and pin and select "My Profile".

  • What benefits can I expect for being a member of the Gold Circle Club?

As soon as you have received membership of the Gold Circle Club you will be able to earn Points towards reward flights* while availing of lounge access at most airports served by Aer Lingus.

  • What happens if my membership of the Gold Circle Club expires?

In order to remain a member of the Gold Circle Club you must earn a minimum of 2,400 points in the year of membership. If your activity falls below this level then you can renew membership for another year by redeeming 2,400 points from your account.

  • Do I receive a membership card?

Applicant members will not receive a membership card until Gold Circle status is reached. Gold Circle members will receive a membership card in the post once 2,400 points are earned in a consecutive 12 month period (excluding bonus points). If you continue to accrue the required number of points, a new card will automatically be issued to you each year. If you do not automatically accrue the required number of points to maintain Gold Circle status and you wish to retain your membership, you can renew your membership by surrendering 2,400 points from your present Gold Circle balance*.

*provided that the renewal is for the 12 month period immediately following expiry of the current Gold Circle Club membership and there are sufficient points in your account.

  • How do I earn Gold Circle points?

Earn Points on Aer Lingus

For every eligible sector you fly*, you will earn points. When you fly Business Class on Trans-Atlantic routes you will earn Bonus Points which can be used towards flight redemptions (bonus points do not count towards tier advancement).

  • How do I register my Points?

To register points you must quote your Gold Circle number when booking your flight. To earn points with one of our partners you must identify yourself as a Gold Circle Member, quote your membership number when making the booking and also present your card at each check-in point.

  • Can I claim the points retrospectively?

Members and Applicants are advised to retain original flight coupons and boarding passes relating to travel on Aer Lingus and/or Gold Circle Club Partner transactions. In the event that transactions have not been recorded on a specific statement, the transactions can be credited from the date of enrolment or up to three months from the date of the transaction, whichever is the later date.

  • When can I spend my Points?

As a qualified Gold Circle member, you can spend points when you have earned the required amount of points for an award.

  • What can I do with my Gold Circle Points?

Your Gold Circle Points can get you flights* to any of the 600 destinations worldwide serviced by Aer Lingus and our partners. You can take family members or friends with you or give someone a flight as a gift.

For details on flights point requirement, logon to with your card number and pin. On the members logged in page under the 'Welcome' message click on 'Book flights with Gold Circle points' which will direct you to a page detailing points required for economy and business class Gold Circle reward flights.

  • How do I spend my Gold Circle Points with Aer Lingus or Airline Partners?

Members wishing to avail of Gold Circle Travel Rewards on Aer Lingus services can make a reservation by Logging In to the Gold Circle section of Reservations on partner airline services can be made by contacting GOLD CIRCLE Reservations at:

  • How do I spend my Points with Non-Airline Partners?

When booking Gold Circle Partner Rewards, members must contact the relevant Gold Circle Partner directly to make the booking. When placing the booking, members must advise the Gold Circle Partner that they are making a Gold Circle Reward booking before they can confirm availability. A booking reference number will then be issued. The member must then contact Gold Circle Administration and quote this booking reference number allowing 14 days for processing. A Gold Circle Partner voucher will be issued to the Gold Circle member, which should be presented when fulfilling the booking.   • Can I claim a one-way flight?

Yes. However, the same number of points is required for a one-way flight as a return flight.

  • Can I earn and spend my points on Aer Lingus charter flights?

No. Aer Lingus points can be earned and redeemed only on Aer Lingus scheduled flights and qualifying flights operated by partner member airlines.

  • Do I have to pay travel taxes and admin fees?

Yes. Members are responsible for all travel taxes and admin fees and must quote a credit/debit card number at time of booking a Gold Circle travel reward.

  • Can I use my Gold Circle points to upgrade an Aer Lingus or Partner Airline flights?

You may upgrade your Aer Lingus flight by contacting your Gold Circle reservations office. It is not possible to upgrade a Partner Airline flight using Gold Circle points. Click here for points required.

  • How can I check my Points balance?

You can now check your balance online.

  1. Enter your Gold Circle number and pin in the members login' area of the homepage and click 'Go'.
  2. On your personal homepage click 'Gold Circle Balance' under the welcome message.
  • Can I transfer or pool my Gold Circle points in order to make a claim?

No. Gold Circle points are not transferable or combinable with another member's Gold Circle points.

  • Are points/miles earned on a partner airline transferrable into Gold Circle points?

No. In accordance with our Partner Airline contracts once points/miles are claimed with one programme they cannot be transferred or moved to another programme.

  • If I buy tickets for family/friends, am I awarded points on their tickets also?

No. Gold Circle points are awarded for travel by the individual Gold Circle member only and are strictly non-transferable.

  • Can I buy Gold Circle points?

No. Gold Circle points have no cash value and cannot be purchased.

  • When are points credited to my account?

Points will be credited to your account after the travel has commenced.

  • How long does it take before partner transactions are credited?

Gold Circle partner transactions are generally credited within 1 month of the transaction.

  • Do you award Points for travel on Gold Circle travel reward tickets?

No. Points are not awarded for travel on complimentary or Gold Circle travel reward tickets.

  • Do Gold Circle Points expire?

Yes, Gold Circle points do expire. Points have a life span of 36 months / three years provided you retain membership of the Gold Circle Club. Once your points reach this age then they will be automatically eliminated from your account.

If your membership of the club is not automatically renewed, through flight activity, you can redeem 2,400 Points for another year's membership providing you have a sufficient points balance in your account. The renewal is for the 12 month period immediately following expiry of the current Gold Circle Club membership. If an Applicant does not log the minimum Application Points for Gold Circle Club qualification within 12 months from the date of application then the oldest Application Points - i.e. those logged in the first month - will be automatically cancelled to maintain a rolling 12-month application period. All Application Points are deemed to be of no value and cannot be redeemed for awards either with Aer Lingus or its partners. Notice, where possible, will be given in advance of elimination.

Once points have been eliminated from the account they cannot be reinstated under any circumstances.

  • How do I stop my points eliminating?

You need to maintain your membership of the Gold Circle Club in order for your Points to remain valid for the duration of their 3-year lifespan. The best way to get value from your Points is to spend them on flights or on selected partner awards.

  • Can I use part cash and part points as payment for tickets or rewards?

No. Currently it is not possible to pay in points and cash combined for tickets for Gold Circle rewards.

  • Can I get a refund of my points if I don't use my Gold Circle reward claim ticket?

No. Once a Gold Circle reward flight claim is made and the ticket issued the booking is non-refundable. Customers are however entitled to claim their taxes back. To do this please forward details of your booking and tickets to Gold Circle administration and the taxes will be refunded to your credit card.

  • I want to make a claim but I don't have sufficient points. Can I owe points?

No. For a claim to be made you must have the required amount of points.

  • Do I have to pay for my infant (under 2 years) who will not be occupying a seat?

If the adult has an economy revenue ticket, the infant will be charged the applicable infant fare. If the Gold Circle Member then uses their complimentary upgrades (Elite members only) or claims a point's upgrade, there is no additional charge for the upgrade of the infant.

  • What is Code-sharing?

Code-sharing is where a flight has two flight numbers, the Aer Lingus number and the flight number of the airline sharing the flight. The flight can be operated by either airline depending on the agreement. This allows us to offer you more choice when making your flight reservation.

  • Can I earn Gold Circle points on a code-share flight?

Yes you can earn points on a code-share flight. However there are occasions where your ticket may not qualify. If you have the flight number prefix of EI on your ticket then you will always earn Gold Circle points on applicable fares.

If the code-share is with one of our Partner Airlines and your flight number prefix on your ticket is BA, CX, QF or UA then you will earn Gold Circle points if booked in a qualifying class. Click here for qualifying classes.

If the code-share is with an airline that is not a Partner Airline of the Gold Circle Club then your flight number prefix on your ticket must be EI to earn Gold Circle points. If your flight number has the prefix of KL or LX on your ticket then you are not entitled to Gold Circle points as we have no Frequent Flyer agreement with these airlines.

FAQs: Account Balances & Statements

  • Why have I not received a statement?

If you are an applicant member, you will not receive a statement until you reach Gold Circle status. However if you require a statement, please email your request to Members will be provided with a monthly Gold Circle statement by e-mail, subject to the Member having a valid e-mail address.

If you are still not receiving a statement, this may be due to your computer system having a block against certain types of email or we may have an incorrect email address for you. To rectify this, email and they will test your system and email address with you.

  • When do I receive a statement?

You will receive a statement each month. All statements are sent by email.

  • I do not have access to email so how can I get a statement?

Regrettably, we only send email statements. You could try to gain internet access at a public library or an internet café and set up an email account at one of the many free email providers.

  • I am missing points from my statement. Can I credit these online?

Yes, you can claim credit for any flights completed in the last 3 months ( of after your registration date if you have only registered within the last 3 months). To Claim your points online click here: Claim Points Online.

For Aer Lingus flights

Your monthly e-Statement will have a "Missing Flights" button. All you have to do is click the button and complete the form with mandatory details of the missing flights. Once the activity has been validated the missing flights will be posted to your account. If you have not received a statement, please email and you will be forwarded a form where you can fill in your missing flight details.

For partner airline flights

You must submit the original ticket stubs and boarding cards to Gold Circle Administration, Head Office, Aer Lingus, Dublin Airport.

For Non-Airline Partners

By submitting the Partner invoice to Gold Circle Administration, Head Office, Aer Lingus, Dublin Airport.
