1. Portable electronic equipment
Use of the following is forbidden on all flights:
- Walkie-talkies, Remote controlled toys
- Display units with cathode ray tubes
- Wireless PC equipment, PC printers
- DVD, CD writers and mini-disk recorders
- TV receivers, Telemetric equipment
- Bluetooth devices and 'Blackberry' technology
- Wireless LAN
Hearing-aids and heart pacemakers are not included in these exclusions.
Permitted inflight, but not during take-off, approach and landing:
- Palm organisers
- Portable DVD players
- Portable audio equipment
(e.g. Walkman, CD player, mini disk player, iPOD,and MP3 player)
- Handheld computer games (e.g. Gameboy)
- Video cameras, Digital cameras, GPS handheld receivers
- Electric shavers, Electric toys (excluding remote controlled)
Portable/mobile phones:
- May be used until the aircraft doors are closed and opened, on departure and arrival respectively. Use is prohibited during fuelling procedures.
Other:
- Use of all other personal electronic equipment is forbidden.
2. Prohibited Items
Note: Passengers are not permitted to check-in or carry on-board any wet-cell batteries either in wheelchairs or as stand-alone batteries.
Passengers are not permitted to carry the following items into the Security Restricted Area and the Cabin of an aircraft:
(A) Guns**, firearms & weapons, any object capable or appearing capable of discharging a project or causing injury including:
All firearms (Pistols, Revolvers, Rifles, Shotguns etc)
Replica and imitation firearms
Component parts of firearms (excluding telescopic sighting devices & sights)
Air pistols, rifles, and pellet guns
Signal flare pistols
Starter pistols
Toy guns of all types
Ball bearing guns
Industrial bolt and nail guns
Cross bows
Catapults
Harpoons & Spear Guns
Animal Humane Killers
Stun or shocking devices e.g. cattle prods, ballistic conducted energy weapons (taser)
Lighters shaped like a firearm.
(B) Pointed edged weapons & sharp objects, pointed or bladed articles capable of causing injury including:
Kilt pins
Axes & Hatchets
Arrows & Darts
Crampons (grappling iron, hooked bar of iron, or plate with iron spikes used in mountaineering)
Harpoons & Spears
Ice axes & ice picks
Ice skates
Lockable or flick knives with blades of any length.
Knives, including ceremonial, religious and hunting knives, made of metal or any other material strong enough to be used as a potential weapon.
Meat cleavers
Machetes
Open razors and blades (excluding safety or disposable razors with blades enclosed in cartridges)
Sabres, swords & swordsticks
Scalpels
Scissors with blades of any length
Ski and walking/hiking poles
Throwing stars
Tradesman's tools that have the potential to be used as a pointed or edged weapon e.g. drill and drill bits, box cutters, utility knives, all saws, crowbars, hammers, spanners, blow torches, however, screwdrivers, wrenches, pliers and other tools.
(C) Blunt instruments, any blunt instrument capable of causing injury including:
Baseball and softball bats
Billiard, snooker and pool cues.
Clubs or batons - rigid or flexible - e.g. Billy clubs, blackjacks (truncheon of leather
covered lead with flexible shaft), night sticks & batons.
Cricket Bats
Fishing rods
Golf clubs
Hockey and Hurley sticks
Kayak and Canoe paddles
Lacrosse sticks
Martial arts equipment e.g. knuckle dusters, clubs, coshes, rice flails, num-chucks, cubatons, kubasaunts.
Skateboards
Tennis Rackets
(D) Explosives and flammable substances, any explosive or highly combustible substances which poses a risk to the health of passengers and crew or the security/safety of the aircraft property including:
Ammunition
Blasting caps
Detonators & fuses
Explosives and explosive devices
Replica or imitation explosive material or devices
Mines & other explosive military stores
Grenades of all types
Gas & gas containers e.g. Butane, propane, acetylene, oxygen - in large volume
Fireworks, flares in any form and other pyrotechnics (including party poppers and toy caps)
Non safety matches
Smoke generating canisters or cartridges
Flammable liquid fluid e.g. Petrol/gasoline, diesel, lighter fluid, alcohol, ethanol
Aerosol spray paint
Turpentine & paint thinner
Alcoholic beverages exceeding 70% by volume (140% proof)
(E) Chemical and toxic substances, any chemical or toxic substance which poses a risk to the health of passengers and crew or the security/safety of aircraft or property including:
Acids and alkalis e.g. spillable "wet" batteries. (not permitted in the cabin or in the hold on on any flights).
Corrosive or Bleaching Substances - e.g. mercury, chlorine
Disabling or incapacitating sprays - e.g. mace, pepper spray, tear gas
Radioactive material - e.g. medicinal or commercial isotopes
Poisons
Infectious or biological hazardous material e.g. infected blood, bacteria and viruses
Material capable of spontaneous ignition or combustion
Fire extinguishers ( excepting as authorised by fire protocols and as aircraft emergency equipment).
(F) liquids, unless in individual containers with a capacity not greater than 100 millilitres or equivalent and contained in one transparent re-sealable plastic bag of a capacity not exceeding 1 litre. The contents of the plastic bag shall fit comfortably and the bag shall be completely closed. Liquids include gels, pastes, lotions, liquid/solid mixtures and the contents of pressurised containers, e.g. toothpaste, hair gel, drinks, soups, syrups, perfume, shaving foam, aerosols and other items of similar consistency.
Exemptions may be granted if the liquid is:
- i) to be used during the trip and is either required for medical purposes or a special dietary requirement, including baby food. When requested to do the passenger shall provide proof of authenticity of the exempted liquid; or
- ii) obtained airside beyond the point where boarding passes are controlled from outlets that are subject to approved security procedures as part of the airport security programme, on condition that the liquid is packed in a bag that is both tamper evident and displays satisfactory proof of purchase at that airport on that day; or
- iii) obtained in the security restricted area from outlets that are subject to approved security procedures as part of the airport security programme; or
- iv) obtained at another Community airport, on condition that the liquid is packed in a bag that is both tamper evident and displays satisfactory proof of purchase at airside at that airport on that day; or
- v) obtained on board an aircraft of a Community air carrier, on condition that the liquid is packed in a bag that is both tamper evident and displays satisfactory proof of purchase on board that aircraft on that day
The following prohibited items shall not be placed in checked-in baggage/hold baggage:
Explosives, including detonators, fuses, grenades, mines and explosives.
Gases; Propane, butane.
Flammable liquids, including Gasoline, methanol.
Flammable solids and reactive substances, including Magnesium, firelighters, fireworks flares.
Oxidizers and organic peroxides, including Bleach, car body repair kits.
Toxic or infectious substances, including rat poison, infected blood.
Radioactive material, including medicinal or commercial isotopes.
Corrosives, including mercury, vehicle batteries.
Vehicle fuel system components which have contained fuel.
Note:
Any sharp objects in checked-in baggage should be securely wrapped to prevent injury to screeners and handling personnel.
**Sport guns and ammunition cartridges will only be carried subject to the following:
- Ammunition is limited to 5kg per passenger and must be packed in containers of Wood, metal, or fireboard with the contents protected against any movement.
- Guns are to be dismantled.
- They will only be carried in the baggage hold of the aircraft.
- They must be packed separately from other baggage.
- They must be available for inspection by security.
- Ammunition on its own is limited to 5kg per passenger and must be packed in containers of wood, metal, or fireboard with the contents protected against any movement. It must be available for inspection.
- They will be subject to a max baggage allowance of 30k including arms and ammunition.
- All government and legal regulations must be complied with.
- All documentation and licenses are the passengers responsibility.
- Subject to an extra charge for the carriage of sports guns and ammunition.
