Optional Service Fees

Below, please find listing of our optional service fees as well as information on what is included with the fare you have purchased.


Complimentary (No Charge) Services

Economy - Long haul (to/from USA)

Customers purchasing a Low Fare on long haul services are permitted one piece of carry-on baggage and one piece of checked baggage free of charge. Customers purchasing a Flex Fare on long haul services are permitted one piece of carry-on baggage and two pieces of checked baggage free of charge. Maximum dimensions and weight allowances apply, see the Baggage Information section for full details.  

Customers travelling on long haul services may choose seats in advance free of charge except for premium seats described in the Optional Service Fees section.

On our long haul flights we provide customers with a delicious meal, which is served free of charge. Our long haul meals are produced locally and only the highest quality ingredients are used. We also provide complimentary soft drinks. Alcoholic beverages are available for €5 to €15 or US$ equivalent. 

Economy - Short haul (Ireland/UK/Europe)

Customers purchasing a Low Fare on short haul services are permitted one piece of carry-on baggage free of charge. Customers purchasing a Flex Fare on short haul services are permitted one piece of carry-on baggage and two pieces of checked baggage free of charge. Maximum dimensions and weight allowances apply, see the Baggage Information section for full details.

Customers travelling on short haul services may choose a seat in advance for a fee. Full details provided under Optional Service Fees.

On all of our flights within Europe we are delighted to serve you a variety of hot and cold food and beverages at very reasonable prices. Full details are available under Items For Purchase.

Business - Long haul (to/from USA)

Customers purchasing a Business Fare on long-haul services are permitted one piece of carry-on baggage and three pieces of checked baggage free of charge. Maximum dimensions and weight allowances apply, see the Baggage Information section for full details.

Connecting Journeys (USA to/from UK/Europe)

For Aer Lingus journeys between North America and the UK or Continental Europe, the long-haul checked baggage allowance will apply for all flights within a single itinerary, unless there is a stopover of more than 14 days in Ireland, then each flight within the itinerary will have the relevant shorthaul or longhaul baggage policy applied to that part of the journey.

 


Change Fees - Name

  • Low Fare/ Plus Fare
    • Name changes are permitted for €100/£80/$157 per person, and may be changed up to 2 hours prior to commencement of journey.
    • The name must be changed for all flights in the itinerary.
    • Name changes are not permitted for bookings with airlines other than Aer Lingus in the itinerary. This includes bookings containing United or JetBlue flights.
  • Flex Fare
    • Name changes are permitted for €100/£80/$157 per person, and may be changed up to 2 hours prior to commencement of journey.

Payment

Payment is required at the time of making the change. If the passenger has a paper ticket payment is required at the ticket desk as the ticket will need to be updated.

Change Fees - Date/Itinerary/Route

    • Low Fare / Plus Fare - Shorthaul flights (Between Ireland/UK/Europe)
      • Changes are allowed on aerlingus.com for €40/£35/$60 (or through our Call Center for €50/£40/$80) per person per flight, plus any difference in cost between the original price paid and price available at the time the change is being made. However, there will be no refund/travel credit of the difference in fare should the new fare be of lower value to that of the original fare, or if a fare of lower value becomes available subsequent to purchase.
      • Changes, subject to availability, can be made up to 2 hours prior to the flight scheduled departure time.
      • Routing changes are permitted from the same country of origin only.
    • Low Fare - Longhaul flights (Between Ireland and USA)
      • Change fees of €100/£85/$150 per person per flight (in each direction) apply, plus any difference in cost between the original price paid and price available at the time the change is being made. However, there will be no refund/travel credit of the difference in fare should the new fare be of lower value to that of the original fare, or if a fare of lower value becomes available subsequent to purchase.
      • Changes, subject to availability, can be made up to 2 hours prior to the flight scheduled departure time.
      • Routing changes are permitted from the same country of origin only.
    • Flex Fare
      • No Itinerary change fee will apply.
      • Changes, subject to availability, can be made up to 2 hours prior to the flight scheduled departure time (or can be made up to departure at the airport).
      • Routing changes are permitted from the same country of origin only.
      • The Missed Departure Fee is waived for changes at the airport (on the day of departure only).
    • Business Class
      • Date, time and route changes are allowed subject to availability plus any difference in cost between the original price paid and the price available at the time the change is being made. However, there will be no refund/travel credit of the difference in fare should the new fare be of lower value to that of the original fare, or if a fare of lower value becomes available subsequent to purchase.
      • Changes, subject to availability, can be made up to 2 hours prior to the flight scheduled departure time (or can be made up to departure at the airport).
      • Routing changes are permitted from the same country of origin only.

Aer Lingus flights between the UK/Continental Europe and the USA which include a connecting flight in Ireland, will be subject to a combination of the change fees above where applicable, as these journeys contain both a short-haul and a long-haul flight.

Change Fees - Missed Departure Change (flights between Ireland and the UK/Europe only)

If a passenger arrives at the airport after check-in has closed but before their flight has departed, they may change their flight at the airport to the next available Aer Lingus flight to the same destination, or another destination in the same country as the original booked flight for a fee of €75 or equivalent.


Checked Baggage Fees - Shorthaul

Shorthaul Baggage fees (Ireland/UK/Europe)

  • Pay online up to two hours before departure at a discount or pay the full fee at the airport. See the table below for details.
  • Low Fare - Baggage fees apply for each checked bag as below. Additional excess fees apply for baggage over the maximum 20kgs (44lbs) in total checked baggage weight per passenger.
    Important - Excess baggage fee will be charged for every kg over the 20kgs baggage allowance, regardless of how many bag fees purchased.
  • Plus Fare - Baggage fees apply for 2nd and subsequent checked bag as below. Additional excess fees apply for all baggage over the maximum 20kgs (44lbs) in total checked baggage weight per passenger.
    Important - Excess baggage fee will be charged for every kg over the 20kgs baggage allowance, regardless of how many bag fees purchased.
  • Flex Fare - Baggage fees apply for 3rd and subsequent checked bag as below. Additional excess fees apply for all baggage over the maximum 20kgs (44lbs) in total checked baggage weight per passenger.

Checked Baggage Fees - Longhaul

Longhaul Baggage fees (to/from USA)

  • Economy Class - Low Fare - 2nd and subsequent bag weighing up to 23kg (50lbs) will be charged.
  • Economy Class - Flex Fare - 3rd and subsequent bag weighing up to 23kgs will be charged as below.
  • Business Class - 3 bags up to a total of 69kgs (150lbs) carried free of charge.

Cabin Baggage: Cabin baggage is restricted to one piece per passenger, weighing under 10kgs/22lbs in total. It must fit into an overhead bin or under your seat.

Fees for Sports Equipment

Longhaul Flights (to/from USA)

  • Sports equipment on longhaul flights are carried under the category of normal free baggage allowance rules/restrictions. Details of these rules are be found in the Baggage section under Checked Baggage Allowance - Longhaul Flights

Shorthaul Flights (Ireland/UK/Europe)

  • Pay online prior to day of departure: Sports equipment, (golf bags, fishing equipment, surf boards, skiing equipment and snowboards) will be charged at a rate of €30.00 or equivalent per item each way.
  • Pay at the airport on day of departure: Sports equipment, (golf bags, fishing equipment, surf boards, skiing equipment and snowboards) will be charged at a rate of €40.00 or equivalent per item each way.
  • Passengers can travel with a maximum of 1 item per passenger excluding infants.
  • The maximum weight allowable for carriage of such equipment described is 15kgs/33lbs. Normal excess baggage rates apply if the passenger carries excess to this maximum allowance.
  • Bicycles, diving gear and windsurfing equipment cannot be booked online.
  • Bicycles must be pre-booked by contacting your local Reservations Department. For contact details click here: Reservations Department. A maximum of six bicycles may be carried on each aircraft. Bicycles departing Amsterdam airport must be boxed or bagged. These can be purchased at the airport.
  • The fees are non-refundable.
  • Sports equipment fees (per item, per one-way flight) are listed below.

  • Sports guns cannot be booked online and are carried only under the following conditions:
    • Sport Guns are to be dismantled.
    • Sports Guns when dismantled are carried only as checked baggage.
    • Sport Guns, ammunition and cartridges must be packed separately from other baggage.
    • Sport Guns, ammunition and cartridges must be available for inspection by security.
    • Ammunition is limited to 5kg per passenger and must be packed in containers of wood, metal, or fireboard with the contents protected against any movement.
    • Subject to an extra charge for flights within Europe.

    Note: Sports Weapons/Firearms/Ammunition cannot be carried on Aer Lingus regional flights.

    If you wish to choose your seats for your journey in advance, you can request your seats up to 48 hours prior to scheduled departure time with a fee.   • Economy - Plus Fare

    Standard Economy seats can be booked with no additional cost.  Exit row and Quick Seats can be booked at a reduced rate.

  • Economy - Flex Fare

    Seats can be booked with no additional cost for any economy seats.

    Routes with A330 -300 aircraft: You can choose your seat in advance with no fee associated except those seats outlined in the table below. The seats outlined below can be requested up to 48 hours prior to scheduled departure for the associated fee.

    All other routes with A330 -200 aircraft: You can choose your seat in advance with no fee associated.

  • In accordance with international safety regulations and Aer Lingus operating procedures, PERSONS WITH REDUCED MOBILTY and CHILDREN UNDER THE AGE OF 14 cannot be seated at exit row or in the first row of any aircraft.

  • Seating Fees are non refundable.

Foreign Transaction Fee

Some financial institutions may impose their own "Foreign Transaction Fee" to online purchases. This is not an Aer Lingus fee and we suggest you consult your individual credit card company for their policy.

On our flights to and from Orlando in addition to our complimentary meal service we also carry a variety of fresh sandwiches including Chicken & Stuffing with Cheese & Spring Onion which may be purchased for €5 or $8. Travel packs are also available for purchase at €5 or $8.

Newspapers

All our flights have newspapers for sale onboard which range in price from €1.90 to €2.70. During the week we have the Irish Independent and on Sundays the Sunday Independent.
