VAT Specialist

Treasury & Tax Department

Aer Lingus is currently inviting applications for the position of VAT Specialist in our Treasury and Tax Department. Reporting to the Director of Treasury and Tax, and based in Dublin, this position is required to accomplish Aer Lingus’ mandatory tax compliance matters in Ireland and Overseas.

Key Responsibilities / Duties include:

• Develop and Improve VAT processing to ensure VAT is properly recorded on sales and costs
• Develop, improve and submit VAT compliance to avoid financial loss whilst also facilitating successful audit on returns
• Support corporation tax and deferred Tax function
• Support PAYE and Income Tax compliance
• Other Tax duties as may be required

To be considered for this position candidates must meet the following:

Essential Criteria:

• Taxation qualification – AITI or equivalent
• Extensive Irish VAT experience in professional practice or industry.
• Some experience of Corporation Tax and Income Tax compliance
• Some knowledge of and experience with tax issues arising from employee benefit and remuneration packages.
• Strong MS Office, specifically MS Excel skills
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken
• Current unrestricted worldwide passport
• Eligible to live and work in the EU
• Provide verifiable references
• Able to pass a 5-year security background check*
• Possession and demonstration of the key competencies and skills outlined below

*If you are a non Irish Citizen, you will need to be in possession of a current police disclosure certificate from your home country. If you have lived outside the Republic of Ireland for more than 6 months you will also be required to hold a current police disclosure certificate from that country/countries.

• Excellent numerical, analytical and problem solving skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the proven ability to present information and opinions in an objective and articulate manner
• Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to build and maintain positive working relationships
• Strong organisational skills combined with high levels of initiative, teamwork, flexibility and commitment
• Highly motivated self-starter with the ability to deliver under pressure and consistently meet deadlines

Desirable Criteria:

• Experience and practical knowledge in overseas VAT
